Kitchens We Love: Studio McGee

Kitchens We Love: Studio McGee

About Studio McGee

Studio McGee is one of the most recognised interior design studios in the industry and with over 1 million Instagram followers and features in Architectural Digest and Vogue Living to name but a few, their impeccable designs are an inspiration for many. Launching their business in 2014 from a spare room to a team of 30, the studio founded by Syd and Shea McGee is led by the strapline Make Life Beautiful and so it’s no wonder their own family kitchen is every bit as beautiful as you may imagine. In a new series in the journal, we’re delighted to share with you the first ‘Kitchens We Love’ blog, featuring Studio McGee.

The Inspiration

In the much-anticipated kitchen reveal video, Shea shares how the kitchen is the heart of the McGee home and she wanted to create an ‘English inspired kitchen with modern functionality.’ A kitchen really is one of the most used spaces in a home and so if you’re starting the design process, Shea notes that it’s great to ‘list out your top priorities and then work from there.’

The Look

The airy open-plan space has a liveable luxe feel showcasing beautiful symmetry throughout. Blending marble accents with putty-coloured cabinetry, stained wood and brass fixtures and finishings, the Studio McGee kitchen is centred around a covetable Lacanche Range framed beautifully by tall cabinetry with custom beading by Killowen Cabinet Co.

The Details

We were delighted to work with Studio McGee to find the right hardware for their kitchen and they opted for a mix of cabinet handles to add definition to the room including our Cotswold Bun Knobs, Queslett Pulls and Bromwich Pull Handle all in a timeless unlacquered polished brass finish. The warmth of the hardware works beautifully against the putty cabinets and the rich stained wood beneath the island too.

Brass is a defining feature in the Studio McGee kitchen with taps, door handles and lights also adding to the overall look.

As a lover of vintage, Shea styled the collection with a selection of her finds to bring the space to life and so additions like a vintage easel painting, large bowl and jug all add a personal charm to their family kitchen too.

It’s safe to say we love this Studio McGee kitchen and know it will inspire your own kitchens as much as it will ours.
